CitySongs is a wonderful organization to volunteer for.  The kids are amazing.  The experience will be a profound one.  Listed below you will see descriptions of our various volunteer positions.

Volunteer Positions - Greeter

Description:  Greet CitySongs Kids and serve them snack as they arrive at CitySongs after-school program. Supervise Kids in Lobby area until they’re ready to go upstairs to rehearsal and Social Work Education activities.
Commitment: Once a week (minimum) through the school year Hours: 3:20-4:45, Tuesday and Thursday
Supervisor: Volunteer Coordinator/SWE Director

 

 

 

 

 

 

Group Mentor/Arts Coach

Description:  Help maintain large group decorum in rehearsals; work with small groups in Social Work Education activities; help chaperone and maintain decorum and support during performances. As needed, help coach soloists / small groups - vocal, recitation; song introductions or dance. These activities take place at CitySongs rehearsal site and performance sites.
Commitment: Once a week (minimum)  Rehearsals -- Tuesday & Thursday through the school year, 3:30 - 6:30; Performances – individually scheduled evenings; weekends; weekdays
Supervisor: Volunteer Coordinator/SWE Director

Operations Assistant

Description:  Help with ongoing administrative and operations work, primarily in CitySongs administrative office (St. Paul Campus of University of Minnesota).
Commitment: 1x/week for two hours (minimum) through the school year Hours: During normal weekday office hours
Supervisor: Operations Manager

Special Projects Assistant

Description:  Help produce Winter or Spring Concert; help with recording project; help with special fundraising, public relations or marketing projects. Location: depends on project.
Commitment: (minimum) four hours, for one event, as coordinated by Operations Manager. Hours: Rehearsals -- Tuesday & Thursday, 4:30 - 6:30; Performances – individually scheduled evenings; weekends; weekdays
Supervisor: Volunteer Coordinator

Communications Specialist

Description:  Write and/or place stories about CitySongs in appropriate media; produce photographs to accompany stories. Solicit story in major publication. Location: depends on project.
Commitment:  Create or secure one feature-length story (minimum), as coordinated by Acting Executive Director and/or Operations Manager  Hours: Determined by project Supervisor:  Operations Manager/Acting Executive Director
