Program Overview
CitySongs is an after-school music-and-development program for vulnerable youth. The idea is to help the kids excel at something they love (singing and performing); in the process help them grow strong, competent, and confident; and then enable these wonderful kids to help strengthen the community with their singing.

The program functions under the direction of a Music staff and a Social Work / Education (SWE) staff, all of whom work together closely, to integrate SWE skill building and music/performance skill building, in all program activities. CitySongs' choir works with approximately 85 students per year.

CitySongs is a joint program of the University of Minnesota School of Social Work, U of M College of Human Ecology, St. Paul’s Hallie Q. Brown – Martin Luther King Center, and the Rondo Education Center.
