Rehearsal Location Rondo Education Center; 560 Concordia Ave, St. Paul Enter Rondo through the red doors. CitySongs staff will be inside the red doors at the Community Education office to meet the students. Our rehearsals will be held in Benjamin Mays Rooms 2214 and 2205. Our back-up rehearsal space is at the Hallie Q. Brown Center, located across the parking lot from Rondo at 270 Kent St. Students and parents will be notified in advance when the rehearsal space changes.
Rehearsal Days/Times Tuesdays and Thursdays: 3:30-4:30 p.m., Power Hour; 4:30-6:15 p.m, rehearsal. There is no City Songs rehearsal when there is no school for St. Paul Public Schools.
Enrollment and Registration Spring enrollment is ongoing. Students MUST complete and turn in a registration packet within two weeks in order to participate in the program.
Power Hour Power Hour is the hour before each rehearsal (3:30-4:30 p.m.) and is held in Benjamin Mays Room 2214. The purpose of Power Hour is to provide after-school supervision to kids in a structured, enriching environment. Small snacks will be served, and students are encouraged to do homework, work on singing, and/or do other educational activities with the help of staff and volunteers.
Social Work/Education Since one of our goals is healthy youth development, part of each rehearsal will include time for large- and small-group discussions and exercises. The focus of the social work staff is to support CitySongs students’ strengths and help them to be successful.
Transportation Parents are responsible for their student’s transportation to and from all rehearsals. The CitySongs staff members are available to help parents in setting up a transportation plan for their students. For performances, students will meet at Rondo, and a bus will be available for transportation to and from the performance. We ask that all parents pick their students up from rehearsals promptly at 6:15 p.m.
Performances CitySongs performs 15-20 times a year (typically on evenings and weekends). Parents are encouraged to attend all performances and are welcome to ride with us on the bus. For all performances, students must wear black slacks or skirt, black socks, black shoes, and a white top.
Communication We send home weekly notes about upcoming performances and other CitySongs information. If you would like us to e-mail you the communication notes, then don't forget to fill out your e-mail address on the registration form or call/email Jerri (612/624-8725 or jerriwagner@gmail.com).
Snow Policy CitySongs will automatically be canceled any day that St. Paul schools are called off because of weather conditions. If bad weather should start later in the day and the Highway Patrol is recommending no travel, we will cancel CitySongs rehearsal. If this should occur, we will notify the Rondo schools and the Rondo Education Center office. Please call one of these agencies or the CitySongs office (Jerri at 612-624-8725) if you are unsure.
